El iPod es un reproductor de MP3 creado por Apple que se utiliza por Solid Snake en Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Fue diseñado para funcionar de la misma manera que el iPod real, con el uso del analógico derecho del mando para controlarlo. El iPod está en el inventario desde el principio del juego y viene con nueve canciones y los primeros Integral Podcasts de Ryan Payton de serie. Otras canciones pueden ser encontradas a través del juego, y nuevas canciones y podcasts están disponibles para descargar desde internet en la opción "Extra" del menú principal del juego, y se pueden desbloquear utilizando contraseñas en la pantalla correspondiente.

Podcasts

There are also podcasts that you can listen to in-game. The service was originally created by Ryan Payton, and was suspended when Payton left Kojima Productions. On December 18th the podcast returned without Payton. It was updated "bi-weekly" starting January 08th. It is available in the Extra's menú as Downloadable Content. As of the 05/14/2009 podcast, the new host Sean Eyestone revealed that the Integral Podcast would be ending, the Kojima Productions Report however will continue. The final episode was uploaded on: 05/28/2009.

Trivia

  • Al escuchar ciertas canciones, Sunny bailará por ellas, algo que se puede ver en el menú de pausa. Las Bellas, además, cantarán karaoke en la pantalla blanca (Oishii Two-han Seikatsu, por ejemplo).
  • La inclusión del iPod en el juego fue muy criticada como una promoción que distrae. Sin embargo, no es inusual que el personal militar utilice iPods en combate. Particularmente, BulletFlight, una aplicación para iPod Touch que hace cálculos balísticos, se usa bastante por francotiradores Americanos en la realidad.
